RIVR mobile application · Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how HydroMap LLC (“we,”
“us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use
the RIVR mobile application (the “App”). RIVR provides
real-time river-flow data, flood-risk information, and forecasts
derived from the NOAA National Water Model.
By using RIVR, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address
and a password, managed through Google Firebase Authentication. We
never see or store your password in plain text.
Content you save
Your favorite rivers, display preferences, and app settings
are stored in your account using Google Cloud Firestore so they sync
across your devices.
Notifications
If you enable push notifications (for example, flow or flood-risk
alerts), we store a device push token through Firebase
Cloud Messaging so we can deliver those notifications. You can disable
notifications at any time in your device settings.
Location
With your permission, RIVR uses your device’s location only while the App is open to show your position on the map and surface nearby river gauges. Your
location is used on your device to find nearby reaches; we do not store
a history of your location on our servers. You can deny or revoke
location access at any time without losing core functionality.
Photos and camera
If you choose to set a custom background image for a river, the photo
you take or select is stored locally on your device only. These images are not uploaded to us or any third
party.
Biometric authentication
If you enable Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint unlock, that biometric
data is handled entirely by your device’s operating system. It never leaves your device and is never transmitted to or stored by us.
Usage and diagnostic data
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how
the App is used and to diagnose crashes. This may include device model,
operating-system version, app version, general usage events, and crash
reports. This data helps us improve reliability and is not used to
personally identify you.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the App and its core features.
- To sync your favorites and settings across your devices.
- To deliver notifications you have opted into.
- To diagnose problems, fix crashes, and improve performance.
- To maintain the security of your account.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do
not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Third-Party Services
RIVR relies on the following service providers, each governed by its
own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud
Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics) — account, sync, notifications,
and diagnostics.
- Mapbox — interactive maps and map tiles.
- NOAA National Water Prediction Service and the
National Water Model Return Periods API (CIROH) —
river-flow and forecast data. We send reach identifiers to retrieve
data; we do not send your personal information to these services.
4. Data Retention
We keep your account information and saved content for as long as your
account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your account
data, saved favorites, settings, and push tokens.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Delete your account: You can permanently delete your
account and associated data directly in the App (Account → Delete
Account).
- Access and correction: You can view and update your
saved data within the App, or contact us for assistance.
- Permissions: You can grant or revoke location,
camera, notification, and biometric permissions at any time in your
device settings.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and
the security infrastructure of Google Firebase, to protect your
information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure,
but we work to safeguard your data.
7. Children’s Privacy
RIVR is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a
child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete
it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the
“Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the
App.

Water Data Watches & HydroMap Explorer · Last updated: August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how HydroMap LLC (“we,”
“us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our public Water Data Watch dashboards and related web apps such as HydroMap Explorer
(together, the “Watches”), hosted on hydromap.com subdomains (for
example lake-specific Watch sites and app.hydromap.com). This section
does not cover the RIVR mobile application.
By using the Watches, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
No accounts
The Watches do not require you to create an account or log in. We do
not ask for your name or email to use the core dashboards.
Aggregate traffic analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-oriented,
cookieless analytics service, to understand aggregate traffic (for
example page views and approximate geography). It is not used to build
advertising profiles.
First-party usage signals
Some Watch features may send lightweight first-party usage events to
our servers (for example UI interactions or chat usage). These signals
are stored without user accounts or login identifiers
and are used to improve reliability and product design—not for
third-party advertising.
Preferences on your device
Display preferences such as favorites, basemap choice, or similar
settings may be stored in your browser’s localStorage
on your device. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.
Chat and AI features
If you use an on-dashboard assistant or similar chat feature, the text
you submit may be logged temporarily for quality, safety, and
improvement. These logs are not tied to a named user account.
Maps and hydrologic data requests
Interactive maps and water-data panels request information from
third-party providers (for example map tiles and USGS, NOAA, or similar
public data APIs). Those requests include what the provider needs to
return data (such as map coordinates or gage/reach identifiers). We do
not send an account profile with those requests.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate and improve the Watches.
- To understand aggregate usage and diagnose problems.
- To keep services secure and reliable.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do
not use Watch data for third-party advertising.
3. Third-Party Services
Watches may rely on providers such as Cloudflare (hosting and Web
Analytics), map-tile providers, and public hydrologic data APIs. Each
is governed by its own privacy policy. Underlying government and
research datasets are subject to their publishers’ terms.
4. Retention
Aggregate analytics and first-party usage logs are kept only as long as
useful for operations and improvement, then discarded or anonymized in
the ordinary course of running the service. Device preferences remain
on your device until you clear them.
5. Your Choices
-
You can stop using the Watches at any time; there is no account to
delete.
-
You can clear localStorage and cookies for hydromap.com hosts in your
browser settings.
-
Browser or network tools that block analytics will limit what we can
see about aggregate traffic.
6. Children’s Privacy
The Watches are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time and will revise the “Last
updated” date above when we do.

Browsing the Site
The Site is primarily static informational content. We do not require
an account to browse. Our hosting and CDN providers may generate

do not use those logs to build marketing profiles or sell personal

and related follow-up.
Cookies and tracking
The marketing Site does not intentionally use third-party advertising
or tracking cookies. If we add analytics or similar tools later, we
will update this policy.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate and secure the Site.
- To respond to messages you send us.
